:: How do I sync my iPod?Now that you have your iPod home you are probably thinking to yourself, “How do I sync it with my computer?” There are a few different ways to sync your iPod. Depending upon the type of iPod that you purchased you can also download your pictures, contacts from Outlook Express or contacts and calendar syncing with Outlook from your PC. Your first step is to install the iPod software that is included with your purchase, which, Apple provided. Then follow the steps below, you will be listening to your new iPod in no time. Just as with all Apple products, it’s easier than you think to sync your music files from your Mac or PC onto your iPod. Transferring music files from your Mac or PC into iTunes: 1. Activate iTunes. 2. Click on File. 3. Choose “Add to Library”. 4. “Add to Library” window activates, navigate to the file folder that your music resides in then and click “Open”. 5. iTunes will recognize those files that it feels that is optimum for play and will automatically add them to your library. Adding Songs via the navigation window. 1. You can drag complete volumes, folders or files containing music files into iTunes icon on either a Mac or PC. Just simply drag and drop the chosen file, folder or volume into the main window of the iTunes program. For a Mac user the location will be: “username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music”. PC location: “username/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music” Ripping the music from a CD: 1. Activate iTunes. 2. Insert audio CD into your Mac or PC’s CD or DVD drive. (iTunes will by default identify and active the web to enable the songs to be downloaded – without you doing anything other than inserting the CD.) 3. Song Tracks will emerge in the list to the right of your screen. 4. Chose the “Import CD” button located in the top-right corner of your iTunes display window. This action will import the entire audio CD and convert them to a compatible format (AAC format) for playback on your iPod. 5. Once completed, chose the “Library” button. The songs you just imported will appear in your library. 6. Click on the song name located in the list and click the play button. A different option to hear the song is to choose the song then hit your spacebar. Now that you have sync’d your music files from your computer or audio CD’s to your iPod, you should be jamming to your favorite tunes! If you have had any issues with transferring the files don’t fret, try it again. You will succeed. Don’t forget to create playlists for your activities such as sleep, working out, working or for road trips. Creating a standard Playlist: 1. Activate iTunes. 2. Locate and click the “large plus (+) sign button” on iTunes, in the bottom left corner. Or chose the File menu then click on New Playlist. (Hot key: Mac: command N. PC: Ctrl N.) 3. Name your new playlist, it is highlighted for you to locate the field easily. 4. Choose the Library in the Source list and decide the tracks that you want to include in your new playlist. 5. Drag and drop the selected files into the new playlist’s icon. 6. Now arrange their order, by clicking on the number column in the main window and then drag them into your preferred place. One thing to keep in mind, you can add song from another computer but if you do not chose the automatic option to replace the current contents then you need to active the ‘manually manage” option in the preferences window of your iPod. Remember that once you go back to your original computer those songs will be eliminated from your iPod. This is done to discourage music piracy.
