Volume level features for the iPod’s and iPod Nano’s
This feature is very easy to use and will give parents the ability to pre-determine a volume level that is safe for them to use. By simply selecting the settings from the iPod’s main menu an option called Volume Limit will appear and you can make the changes.
With the four-digit combination dial that locks the maximum level in place you cannot go wrong.

This is an excellent feature for the iPod! Some kids have them just too loud and the damage to the eardrums is unrepairable.
This is something that will make the parents feel safe knowing that their kids can't turn the volume up too loud.
It's good that Apple would do something that will help protect the hearing of the people that listen to music via their products.
A four digit lock code, I dont think is much a difficult for kids of today to break apart. They could do it probably while lsitening to songs. Better if there were a feature like authentication via thumb print. Though its a very good to limit the sound of the pod since It can seriously damage the hearing ability.
Identification via thumb print sound a bit over the top! It's and ipod not a bank vault! Volume control seems a bit unecessary to me, they don't get loud anyway. Some parents worry too much I think, and as you say, it wouldn't take long for a kid to crack the four digit code if they really wanted to.
Its a pretty cool idea, and I think I disagree with the earlier poster a four digit PIN is quite secure enough, if its good enough for your cash card its gotta be good enought for your iPod right?
I agree that kids play thier sounds far to loud and damaged hearing is with you for life!
